What is Turmeric?
Turmeric (Curcuma Longa) is a golden rhizome root related to ginger. It has been used for thousands of years in Chinese traditional medicine and in Indian Ayurveda as a therapeutic and healing herb. It also has a long history as a spice and food additive, even giving mustard its iconic yellow color. But raw turmeric rhizome (as used in foods) has only around 3% curcumin content, so we've included this highly concentrated form of curcumin extract that has been standardized to ~32 times the typical dosage of curcuminoids.
- Organic Turmeric Root Powder: Ground powder from non-GMO, organic, whole food sources. While lower in curcumin content, studies show there are other beneficial compounds found in whole turmeric root. Amongst them is natural dietary fiber, which helps the absorption of curcumin into the body.
- BioPerine®: This trademark black pepper extract (piperine) has been clinically studied to increase bioavailability of curcumin by 2000%. Since some studies show curcumin to not be easily absorbed into the bloodstream, this addition is extremely important to the potency and effectiveness of our formula.
